Call for abstracts now open: Africa Conference on Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has announced a call for abstracts ahead of the Africa Conference on Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (SAM), set to take place in Dar Es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania, from 25 to 28 November 2025.
The conference will contribute to the marking of FAO’s 80th anniversary and aims to build on the outcomes of the 2023 Global Conference on Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization held in Rome.
Organized in collaboration with key partners, the SAM conference will convene policymakers, researchers, farmers, development agencies, and private sector actors from across Africa to explore pathways for transforming the continent’s agriculture through sustainable mechanization.
In particular, over the four days, the conference will address critical themes, including the implementation of the Framework for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization in Africa (F-SAMA) and the promotion of conservation agriculture. Additionally, it will feature discussions around innovation and digitalization in mechanization and existing investment opportunities in sustainable technologies as well as scaling up inclusive business models and mechanization value chains.
FAO is inviting researchers, practitioners, and other stakeholders to submit abstracts that address the opportunities, challenges, and innovations in sustainable agricultural mechanization across Africa.
Contributions should align with the conference’s thematic focus and support the goals of the FAO Strategic Framework 2022–31 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Interested contributors are encouraged to submit abstracts through the official conference website, where detailed guidelines are available. The event will offer opportunities for both oral presentations and poster sessions.
For more information and to submit an abstract, visit the official conference website. The deadline for submissions is 15 August 2025.
